Flash vs. Java
I’ve debated coding a game in Flash vs. Java. Right now, I’m considering flash only because I’ve always wanted to learn flash. Also, the use of flash is pretty widespread. Java, on the other hand, is a better programming language and it is harder for people to steal the code.

Hi, nice looking site.
I’d suggest that you stick with Flash. Almost everyone has Flash installed on their machines, and Actionscript is a very powerful language.
Java is still a popular language, but not so much for Applets anymore. From what I’ve seen it’s used more for server-side and desktop applications.
According to this page ( http://www.realchat.com/blog/java-vs-flash/ ) only 56% of people even had Java installed, while 95% had Flash installed.. and that was April of last year.
